Is Upgrading My Gaming PC Worth It?

Hey everyone! I've saved up some cash and I'm thinking about upgrading my old gaming rig. Given the high prices of RAM, I'm hesitant to jump to the AM5 and DDR5 setups right now, so I'm considering sticking with my AM4 socket for a slight upgrade instead. Here are my current specs:

- **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- **CPU Cooler:** ENDORFY Fera 5 ARGB 120mm
- **Motherboard:** MSI B550-A PRO
- **RAM:** 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16
- **Power Supply:** SilentiumPC Vero L3 600W 80 Plus Bronze
- **Storage:** 2x 1TB M.2 NVMe drives

I'm currently gaming at 1080p but I want to change my resolution to 1440p. I'm planning to upgrade the GPU, CPU, RAM, and PSU, and here's the setup I'm considering:

- **GPU:** RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 (There's a price difference of about $100 where I live)
- **CPU:** AMD R7 5700X
- **RAM:** Add another 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz
- **PSU:** Upgrade to a 750W 80 PLUS GOLD

I live in Poland and my budget for this upgrade is around 4000-4500 zł (approximately $1100-$1250). My PC will mainly be used for gaming. Do you think this upgrade is worthwhile or do you have other suggestions? Also, will this setup perform well at 1440p, or should I be concerned about the CPU's capability?

How many RAM sticks do you currently have? If you have two, adding just another 16GB might not be the best idea. It’s better to have 2x16GB sticks for optimal performance. As for the GPU, I’d go with the standard 9070; it's power-efficient and should work with your old PSU! Also, your 5600X should still cut it for gaming, so hold off on that upgrade for now.

Skip the 5700X! Your current CPU is still great for gaming. Just check this video for comparisons on performance. For your GPU choice, if gaming is the priority, go for the 9070 XT; it offers good value and performance.

Or consider the non-XT model. It's less demanding on the power supply, and you'll get decent performance while saving your current PSU.

Honestly, upgrading from the 5600X to the 5700X seems like a waste if you're mostly gaming. Your current setup is solid! Before upgrading, check if the games you play are CPU-heavy or GPU-heavy. If they lean more towards GPU, definitely grab a new GPU instead. For strictly gaming, focus on that!

The type of games you play really matters. For heavy FPS or strategy games, you might feel the need for a stronger CPU, but your current rig will handle most titles well. If I were you, just grab the 5070, that’ll give you a significant performance boost without stressin' your budget or needing a new PSU. Keep it simple!

I’d say upgrading to the 9070 XT and switching to 1440p is your best bet right now. No need for the 5700X; it won't offer much in terms of real-world gaming performance. Just focus on that GPU upgrade, and you’ll notice a big difference in gameplay!

Totally agree! Stick with what you’ve got for the CPU and save the cash for a bigger upgrade down the line.
