I recently upgraded from a GTX 1060 to a 5070 ti after 10 years and now I'm experiencing a really loud, high-pitch noise when the system is under load. I'm wondering if this is coil whine? It's so loud that I can hear it clearly from my living room, and headphones aren't helping at all. The noise starts to ramp up when the GPU hits around 40% usage. Yep, that definitely sounds like coil whine. Some level of this noise is common, but it can get excessive, especially if your PSU is aging. If it’s over 9 years old like your previous GPU, it might be contributing to the issue due to increased ripple.
To me, that noise resembles a fan scraping against the heatsink fins. Have you tried adjusting the fan speeds? Sometimes that can help mitigate the sound.
