A couple of years ago, I traded in my old iPhone and iPad at the Apple Store and received gift cards through their trade-in partner, Phobio. Today, I tried to make a purchase, but both gift cards show a zero balance. I've raised a case and provided email confirmations and support documents, but the response was simply that they don't know where the money went. The gift cards were added to my digital wallet, and there's no transaction recorded in my account. The support team can't offer any assistance beyond that. How can I get my money back, and is there a way to escalate this issue further?

Have you tried reaching out to Phobio directly? It's a long shot, given that once the gift cards are added to your account, they might not be able to trace the transactions. Also, double-check if there were any conditions like expiration dates. In the meantime, definitely ask Apple Support to escalate your case to a supervisor. If there’s a nearby Apple Store, visiting them in person might give you a better chance at resolution. Hope you get it sorted soon!
I’ve never heard of a trade-in partner before. Usually, you just trade in directly with Apple when buying a new device. Are you sure this process is common where you are? It seems strange to have to deal with a separate company.
