Hey everyone! I've been trying to figure out which platform is best for learning coding, mainly focusing on Python and C++. I'm also curious about dabbling in some SQL. I had some programming experience years ago, but it didn't go well. It's now more of a hobby for me rather than a career path. I've tried a few courses, including Harvard's CS50, but nothing really clicked. I'm looking for recommendations based on your experiences, either with free or paid options. I've checked out Boot.dev, CodeAcademy, and HyperSkill, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on these or any other platforms!

Honestly, if I had to start over, I wouldn’t spend any money. There are so many free resources out there! Learning how to research and solve problems is part of the journey. YouTube can be hit or miss, but I'd recommend it over those paid platforms.

I agree! There are tons of YT courses, but it can be overwhelming to find quality ones. A lot of them cover basics without practical exercises. Have you found any specific channels that you think are worth the time?

+1 for Boot.dev if you're leaning towards backend development. I’ve tried multiple platforms, and Boot.dev felt the most realistic. You actually get to test and experiment with the code you learn instead of just copying it from videos.

Did you go for Boot.dev as a free or paid user? I’m curious about your experience because it sounds just like what I feel when watching YouTube tutorials—just copy-pasting without real interaction.

Check out FreeCodeCamp.org! It’s a solid starting point for learning the basics of tech. Just keep in mind, it used to lack some theory content, but it's been a while since I used it. Still, it's great for getting a foundation before diving deeper.

I started with FreeCodeCamp for HTML and CSS, then moved to The Odin Project. From what I know, FCC has Python courses, but they usually recommend a Microsoft course for C#. Is a combo of those two resources helpful?
