How can I safely format a Mac Mini that was issued to me by my previous employer?

Hi everyone! I'm reaching out for some advice. A few years back, I worked for a company that gave me a Mac Mini in Space Grey. I never used it because I've been worried about the possibility of them tracking it down. The company wasn't great to me, and I'd really like to keep the computer. Is there a way to format it so that it's no longer linked to them? Or do you have any other suggestions for what I should do? Thanks so much for your help! ❤️❤️❤️

Look, I get that you had a bad experience with the company, but trying to keep tech that isn’t yours isn't cool. The right move is to just send it back. You never know—maybe they'll even take the return smoothly if you ask for a shipping label!

It's super risky to mess with company property, especially if they can track it! If you really want to keep it, check if it doesn't show up as owned when you power it on. If it doesn't show that label, a format might be all you need, but still… it's a gamble.

Honestly, you might want to consider returning it. If it's owned by the company, formatting it won’t really change that. If you turn it on and it shows that it belongs to an organization, there’s not much you can do. It's best to contact them and see if you can ship it back, or at least get some clarity on the situation.
