Is It Time to Upgrade My Power Supply with a New GPU?

I'm thinking about upgrading my graphics card from an RX 580 to an RX 9060. I checked a power supply (PSU) calculator and found that the RX 580 has a higher power consumption than the 9060, which surprised me since I thought newer parts would use less power. My current build seems to be running fine, but the calculator suggests I might need more power than my current EVGA 450 W3 provides. Should I be worried about my current PSU, or can I hold off on upgrading for now? The power estimations suggest about 410W, while another calculator says I should have 500-600W.

The RX 580 generally uses less power than the RX 9060 XT. If you're getting the regular 9060, it might be similar in power usage, but it sounds like you're looking at the XT version, which tends to consume a bit more. Modern GPUs can have transient spikes where they pull significantly more power for short periods, so it’s tough to say if 450W is enough without knowing your other components. If your system starts shutting off when gaming, that’s a sign to upgrade your PSU.

Appreciate the insight! It does sound like I’m leaning towards the XT version. Should I prioritize getting a new PSU right away or wait a few months? Rewiring seems daunting!
