Help! My iPhone XS Max Won’t Flash and I’m Stuck

Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my iPhone XS Max. It won't flash, and I really need some help. I forgot the password, and since I didn't have the right software, I tried using iTunes to update it to iOS 18.7.5, but I ran into a bunch of errors.

Next, I downloaded the iOS 18.7.5 file from Chrome and used 3uTools instead of iTunes. It initially got to about 9% before hitting an error that said, "Unable to write IBEC. Error code -2 (1)." After that, I switched to the back USB ports on my PC and attempted Pro Flash in DFU mode. That lasted only a second before failing with, "Loading IBSS component failed."

Then I tried Smart Flash, which made it to 16% before giving me another error – "Unable to load RestoreRamDisk. Error code." I went back to Pro Flash, and the same IBSS failure happened again.

After some more attempts, I switched ports and restarted the software, and it seemed to work for about 6 minutes and 53 seconds. During that time, the iPhone showed the Apple logo with a loading bar that was almost full when it displayed a flash failure message. I thought it was just taking time, so I left it plugged in overnight, but it stayed stuck.

When I forced a restart, it went back into recovery mode. After a few hours of no luck, I tried the whole process again with Pro Flash, but it once more said "IBSS component failed." I'm really exhausted and would appreciate any advice on what to do next!

If iTunes isn’t working for you, maybe consider using a different flashing tool. Some users have had success with alternatives to 3uTools. Just make sure that any tool you use is well-reviewed because you don't want to make the situation worse. And don’t forget to back up your data if you manage to get it working!

It sounds like you’re having a tough time! I’d recommend going back to iTunes for a restore. Sometimes it takes a bit of patience, and if you can try a different computer or USB cable, that could help. Make sure your iTunes is updated as well. If nothing works, it might be worth visiting a repair shop, especially if you're getting stuck on errors.
