I'm planning to build my first gaming PC and have a budget of around $500 to $700 Canadian dollars. My main goal is to be able to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War 2. I'm also hoping to set it up so that I can easily upgrade components later on as I save more money. I'd really appreciate any suggestions for builds or components that could work within my budget!

With a budget of $500-$700, you're looking at building an AM4 machine, but just keep in mind that future upgrades might require a new motherboard and RAM due to current pricing. It’s really rough in the market for gaming PCs right now. I'd keep an eye out for upcoming Steam Machines, they might be a good alternative. If you’re set on building, you’ll probably need to hunt for used parts and get lucky to make it work.

Honestly, it's a tough time to get a budget PC up and running, especially with the current price hikes on RAM and GPUs. I’d suggest considering a console like the PS5 or Switch 2 if you're looking for a great gaming experience without breaking the bank. It might be a more reliable option until prices stabilize.

I completely get where you're coming from, but right now it's a rough market for budget builds. If you can, check out the used market like Facebook Marketplace. I've noticed prices for components are rising constantly, so you might score some deals there. Otherwise, it might be best to wait it out a bit until prices drop.

Yeah, I agree! It’s a shame that what used to be a budget build isn’t really budget-friendly anymore. It's frustrating!

I managed to put together a decent setup with a 7700k, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a 1070SC for about $400, but I got super lucky piecing it together from eBay. Just a heads up, while it'll run your games, it won't be top-tier performance and you'll hit a wall if you want to upgrade since that setup has limitations.
