I recently upgraded my laptop from an HDD to an SSD by cloning the old drive. However, after the switch, my laptop didn't boot properly, so I ended up installing Windows 11 from a USB. Now, I have two partitions, each with a Windows installation, and I get prompted to choose which one to boot every time I start up. Thankfully, the old partition still has all my files, but I can't access my programs from the new installation. I'm looking for advice on how to combine both partitions into a single one while retaining my files and programs.

You could also consider copying all your files over to an external drive or a cloud service like OneDrive or Google Drive as a safety net. After that's done, wipe the drive clean and do a fresh install of Windows on the SSD. It’ll streamline everything and you won’t have to juggle partitions anymore!
Before you start messing with your partitions, make sure you've backed up your important files! It's easy to mess things up and lose data when changing partitions. To merge them, you’ll need to delete one partition to make it unallocated, then extend the other partition into that space. Just double-check if you still have both the old HDD and new SSD in your system because that might be contributing to the dual boot.
Sounds like you've got both setups running at the same time, which explains the boot choice. Once you get a backup done, merging will be easier!

Yes, I cloned everything from the HDD to the SSD, but when I rebooted, I ran into the blue screen of death. I couldn't fix it with all the YouTube solutions, so I ended up doing a fresh install of Windows 11, and now I'm dealing with these partitions.
