I'm trying to decide between the Adata Mars 980 Blade, which is a new PCIe Gen 5 SSD, and the older yet high-performance Samsung 990 Pro, which uses PCIe Gen 4. My goal is to separate my Windows system storage from my other applications, and I have an Asrock B850 Challenger WiFi motherboard. Which SSD would be better for installing Windows?

It really depends on your specific use case. A single NVMe drive can handle everything without issues. But since you want to use multiple drives, I'd recommend installing Windows on the Adata Mars 980 Blade since it's the faster option.
What kind of workload are you running? If you're separating the storage to avoid background installations affecting your apps, that makes sense. Otherwise, one fast NVMe could manage all your needs efficiently.
I get the need to keep things separated for performance. But honestly, if you’re just using your PC for regular tasks, both of them will serve you well. Just keep in mind that the Mars 980 is newer tech!
