A520M vs B550M Motherboards: Which Should I Choose?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide between two motherboards: the A520M Pro and the B550M. I want to make sure I choose the right one since a motherboard issue could be pretty disastrous. I'm building my PC mainly for gaming (like The Witcher 3 and League of Legends) and for professional work that involves heavy software for 3D modeling and video editing. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 5700X, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, an NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB, and a 2TB SSD. I initially thought the A520M would be fine, but I've read some suggestions pointing towards the B550M instead. I'm concerned about reliability and performance, especially for my use case. What do you all think?

Honestly, neither motherboard is likely to fail more than the other; they both have a decent lifespan. If you want added features and future-proofing, the B550M is worth the extra investment. It's really about what features you need for your setup rather than durability.

Agreed! The B550M is definitely a better choice if you plan on using modern tech. Plus, it won't limit your SSD speeds, especially if you're working with a Gen 4 drive.

I'd lean towards the B550M. It has a PCIe Gen 4 slot for your GPU, which is a clear advantage since the A520M only supports PCIe Gen 3. While both boards are pretty reliable, the internal quality of the B550M is generally better. For heavier workloads, B550 offers a solid balance, but if you're not pushing the limits too much, the A520M can still get the job done.

Note that the A520M doesn't support overclocking and restricts the PCIe bus to Gen 3. I currently use an A520 with a Ryzen 5 5600 and it works fine, but for an RTX 5060 Ti, you definitely want to opt for a B550 to take full advantage of the GPU's potential.
