I'm having trouble booting a USB with Linux. I've tried both Mint and Ubuntu, but every time it fails. Sometimes I just see a black screen, and other times I make it to the installation menu, but it never progresses and always freezes. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Reformatting the USB can sometimes clear up issues. Have you tried that yet? If not, I’d recommend giving it another shot. If it still doesn't work, perhaps you could try using a burned DVD instead to see if that resolves your boot problem.
Can you tell us how you created the USB stick and what app you used? If you're not using it already, "Fedora Media Writer" is a solid choice for writing any Linux .iso to a USB, not just Fedora. It might work better than Rufus or Etcher for what you're trying to do!
I initially tried with Rufus and then switched to Etcher. I'll give your suggestion a shot tomorrow and let you know how it goes!
Have you tried using a different USB stick? Sometimes the issue can be with the USB itself. Also, consider switching to another USB port, as that can occasionally help as well. In my experience, freezing or a black screen usually relates to graphics drivers not loading properly, so posting your system specs might help others identify the issue too. You could also test out a live distro instead of trying to install right away; that might give you some insight into whether it’s a software problem or a hardware issue.
That's a good call! Just remember, if it freezes again, it could also be a software or config issue, so keep an eye on any messages at boot.

I did try reformatting it once, but it didn’t fix anything. I don’t have any other USBs to try with either, so I guess the DVD route could be my next best option.
