I'm in the process of replacing a Barracuda infrastructure with a more cost-effective backup solution that complies with NIS2 regulations and offers data immutability. I'm considering Veeam since we're only backing up about 20 virtual machines (VMs), but I'm also curious about any open-source alternatives that would meet these requirements and save some money. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!

I recently tried Veeam for Microsoft 365 and it was a complete letdown. The product just doesn’t deliver as promised. I'd definitely recommend looking for another backup provider instead.
Veeam does work, but honestly, it's become pretty bloated over the last couple of years. The licensing can be a nightmare, too. You often find yourself troubleshooting issues because a backup might fail, causing a bunch of other problems in the process. It's frustrating especially when you're paying so much for it. They've shifted away from a licensing model that we all relied on, which means that backing up unstructured data now costs a lot more. I'd suggest checking out other options that might offer better value for your budget.
Seems like the new updates just make it slower and more complicated, plus they keep raising the prices!

Are you still using v12? I'm really hesitant about upgrading to v13 with all these issues.
