I clicked on a shortened link I found on social media, thinking it would lead to something about football. Instead, it redirected me to a site that had a Cloudflare verification box. I pressed the button to continue out of curiosity, but now I'm worried that I might be in danger. I didn't enter any personal information, which I thought was key in phishing scams, but I'm not sure if just clicking that verification box poses any risk. Can anyone help me figure out if I've put myself in jeopardy?

It's good that you're being cautious! I ran a check on VirusTotal, and it shows that several vendors flagged that site as concerning. It's better to be safe than sorry, so I’d recommend running a virus scan just to be sure.
You should be fine this time. Just beware when clicking links in the future! If you want to check URLs safely, consider using a cloud service like any.run to test suspicious links without risking your device.
Yeah, it's wise to run an antivirus scan. Just clicking on a link can sometimes execute scripts or push malware onto your system. It’s worth noting that while I haven't seen instances of someone impersonating Cloudflare specifically, running a scan is still a good idea. Just be aware that you can check where a link leads by hovering over it before clicking!

Thanks! I don't feel super up to date on this stuff since I've been out of the loop. If scripts were actually executing just from clicking links, wouldn’t we see a lot more damage online? I'm pretty certain no downloads happened, so hopefully, I'm in the clear.
