Facing major performance issues with RTX 5070 and Ryzen 7 5700X

Hey folks! I recently upgraded to an RTX 5070, and while I was aware of potential bottlenecking with my Ryzen 7 5700X, the significant performance drops and irregularities I'm experiencing are quite unexpected, especially while gaming at 1440p. For instance, in Battlefield 6, my GPU usage hovers around 50-60%, while my CPU seems to be maxing out, leading to heavy stuttering and FPS drops to the 40-60 range in the indie game PEAK. I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting, but the inconsistency in frame times is still frustrating. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 5700X, Peerless Assassin 120 cooling, MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max motherboard, and a Corsair TX650M Gold PSU. I've enabled Re-Size BAR and PBO settings. Even with solid specs, the CPU seems unable to keep up with the GPU. Is this an issue with the 5700X's L3 cache compatibility with the newer 50-series architecture, or is it something else I should check? Unfortunately, upgrading to a 5800X3D isn't feasible due to stock issues and inflated prices right now.

Also, keep an eye on your CPU boost frequency settings. You might want to push for a little higher max boost in the BIOS for the 5700X. Sometimes tweaking the PBO settings helps alleviate bottlenecking effects.

I suspect there could be a Windows or driver problem here. It’s possible your hardware should perform better than it is. If you're facing the classical Nvidia driver overhead issue, you might want to check if your GPU has any known issues or if a VBIOS update is available.

Your performance dip, especially in indie games, seems odd. Have you looked into your Windows settings? Sometimes, V-Sync and monitor refresh rate settings can mess with game performance.

That's a good point! I haven't adjusted those in a while, I might check that out.

It sounds like something might be off because your CPU should handle the RTX 5070 pretty well. Have you checked your PSU? Sometimes, if it's not performing at its best, that can cause issues like stuttering and low GPU usage.

Yeah, I have a Corsair TX650M and I'm using two separate cables for the GPU. Power delivery should be solid, but it's always good to confirm.

From what you've described, it sounds like a software issue. Your setup is more than capable. I just upgraded from a 5600X and played a ton of games at 1440p without any hiccups. Have you tried a clean install of your drivers? That might help the performance.
