I recently joined my mom in tracking our cat's location using an AirTag on the cat's collar. I'm curious to know if she can also see my personal location, or is it just the AirTag's location that she can access?

Your mom can only track the AirTag on the cat's collar, just like you can. Sharing that AirTag won't let her see where you are, so your location privacy stays intact.
Just to clarify, if you’re using two separate Apple accounts and simply sharing the AirTag, your mom won’t have access to your location. She can only see the location of the AirTag itself. However, if you shared your location or are using the same account, then that’s a different story.
Exactly! The Find My app lets you share the AirTag's location without linking accounts. No need to worry about that!

Yeah, but if you two are in an area with fewer iPhones around, the AirTag might not pick up a signal unless you’re nearby. So when it's showing a location, it might just be from when you're at home close to the cat.
