Hi everyone! I'm considering whether it's a good idea to upgrade my CPU from an Intel 12700K to a Ryzen 9800X3D. I have an RTX 5080 graphics card and usually game at 1440p. Occasionally, I also record and stream my gameplay. Given my setup with 64GB of DDR5 RAM, I'm curious if switching CPUs would really make a noticeable difference. I'd appreciate any thoughts or experiences you can share! Thanks!

Honestly, unless you're hitting CPU limits in your current games, the 12700K is still pretty strong. If you're not doing a lot of CPU-intensive gaming, then maybe focus on other upgrades instead.
If you can afford it, the 9800X3D is an absolute powerhouse. You'd likely see nice performance gains, especially at 1440p with your current GPU setup.
You might want to consider waiting for new CPU generations from Intel and AMD. The upgrade could be significant, but if your current setup isn't causing issues, patience might pay off better.
With your RTX 5080 and playing at 1440p, you should look up benchmarks for the 9800X3D. Some gamers might experience boosted frame rates, but it might not be anything drastic, maybe around a 10% increase depending on the game.
Check your GPU utilization while gaming. If it's close to 100%, then upgrading the CPU may not yield significant improvements. Sometimes it might be better to wait until you really need that performance boost.

You're right, my GPU isn't maxed out at the moment. I might just be acting on impulse, so I’ll take some time to think this through.
