I'm debating whether I should upgrade from my current 16GB RAM to a 32GB RAM kit. The options I'm looking at are 2x8GB with a speed of 3600MHz and CL18 versus 2x16GB at 3200MHz and CL16. How significant is the difference in speed between 3200MHz and 3600MHz when it comes to real-life gaming and multitasking? I have a Ryzen 5800X processor, so I want to make the best choice for performance.

When it comes down to raw performance, the difference between 3600MHz CL18 and 3200MHz CL16 is pretty small in real-world use. However, moving from 16GB to 32GB can make a big impact, especially if you tend to have many applications open at once or multitask heavily. If you can manage the price difference, I’d say go for the 32GB option!

But does the extra 400MHz really matter in practical use?
