Which Graphics Card Should I Get for 1440p Gaming Under £400?

Hey everyone, I'm new here and could really use your advice! I'm building a PC and I need a graphics card that fits under a £400 budget, as I want to game at 1440p and high settings. I'm mainly playing Overwatch, Minecraft, Valorant, and Marvel Rivals. I also do some game emulation and light coding. Here's what I have so far:

- **CPU:** Ryzen 5 7600x
- **Storage:** 1TB M.2 SSD (planning to add more later)
- **RAM:** 32GB (2x16GB 6000MHz)
- **CPU Cooler:** ID-Cooling SE 214
- **Monitor:** 1440p 180Hz IPS with adaptive sync

I'm about to grab a motherboard (MSI PRO B650-S WIFI ATX) and a case (Montech Air 100 ARGB). For the power supply, I'm waiting on the GPU choice.

In terms of graphics cards, I'm considering:
- **Used:** ASUS TUF RX 6800xt OC 16GB (£349.99) or ASUS TUF 3080 OC 10GB (£349.99)
- **New:** Gigabyte RX 7700xt OC 12GB (£359.99), Palit RTX 5060 Ti Infinity 16GB (£399.95), or the Sparkle B580 (£269.99)

I'm a bit unsure about purchasing used GPUs but my friend had good luck. The 6800xt and 3080 are solid but require more power and run hotter. On the flip side, the newer cards are more efficient and cooler. The B580 is the cheapest, but I've heard it has driver issues and may not be well-supported. Notably, I don't really play the big AAA titles often; my focus is more on the games I listed.

So, do you think I should go for the used 6800xt/3080 or the new 7700xt/5060 ti? Or can the B580 handle the games I play at 1440p with over 130fps?

I’ve been using an RTX 4070 Super with the Ryzen 5 7600, and it’s performed great. It might be over your budget, but it could be worth considering if prices drop later.

The 4070 Super is a beast, but the prices are indeed steep right now. I’ll keep an eye on it!

Honestly, the used market is looking like your best bet right now. The new GPU prices in the UK are a bit inflated. Check the listings to find what you need—there might still be some good options out there!

Same here, it feels like the deals have vanished!

Yeah, it's rough out there. I remember last year it was much cheaper for GPUs. Really frustrating!

I'd suggest the RTX 5060 Ti. It’s slightly weaker than the 3080, but it’s new, has more VRAM, and runs cooler. For your needs, it should perform well and save you some hassle with power consumption.

If you can find a used RTX 3090 for that price, jump on it! Although, realistically, you'll likely see them for more than £400, often approaching £700. Just check those listings thoroughly.

Haha, if I find a 3090 for £400, I might as well buy a lottery ticket!

Look for a used 6900xt; they usually hover around £400. It can be a better value than the 7800xt at the same price point. Just check the condition and warranty if possible!

That’s a good shout! Is it worth the price bump for a used 6900xt over the 6800xt?
