Hey everyone! I just put together a new PC after a five-year break from building, and I'm running into some trouble. Here are my specs:
- ASUS PRIME B760M-K
- Intel i5-14400
- Corsair RM750e PSU
- ASUS RTX 5070 GPU
The problem is that when I power it on, the power button blinks rapidly (about 20 times in five seconds), and the system keeps restarting in a loop. I also hear clicking noises coming from the PSU. I've checked all the connections and made sure nothing's shorting out. I've tried reseating the RAM, removing the GPU, and checking the cables, but nothing seems to work. I'm not sure if the issue lies with the PSU, motherboard, wiring, or something else entirely. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

It sounds like the motherboard, RAM, or CPU might be your culprits. The clicking sound from your Corsair PSU is likely a relay activating and deactivating because it isn't stable. A good next step is to check the BIOS version printed on the motherboard and ensure it supports the i5-14400. Also, double-check those standoffs—an errant one could be causing shorts.
Make sure your motherboard and chassis standoffs are correctly placed. It's an easy thing to overlook, but any misalignment could lead to grounding issues.
It might be a power issue. Even though a 750W PSU sounds sufficient, sometimes it can get overloaded. Try using a stronger PSU just in case. If you're booting without the GPU and it's still a no-go, I'd revisit those wiring connections—something might be off there.
