I had a nameless folder on my desktop for keeping private files, but after my laptop updated to Windows 11 yesterday, it disappeared around 8:50 am. I did some research and saw that some sources suggest it might have been flagged as malicious, but it never seemed to bother me for over a month before this. I tried using CMD and the 'show hidden files' option, but I still can't find it. Can anyone advise what I should do?

It's worth checking Windows Defender to see if it quarantined the folder. Sometimes, it might remove files that it thinks are malicious. You can access the quarantine section to check for anything unusual.
No subscription needed for Windows Defender; it should be available by default on your system!
Have you tried installing VoidTools Everything? It's a search tool that can help you find files that might still exist on your system. You could search for anything that used to be in that folder. Just a thought!
I gave that a shot, but it couldn't find any of the files I had there. It seems like they might be gone for good.

I'll look into that and see if the file is there. I wasn't sure if I needed a subscription for that, though.
