I've got an Acer laptop that's completely dead now, and I'm not very tech-savvy since I'm just a business major trying to figure things out. Before it quit on me, it would randomly shut off, and then it reached a point where it couldn't 'automatically repair' itself anymore and couldn't connect to the internet. I was using Windows 11 before this happened. I used to mod games a lot, but I always went through trustworthy sources. I don't really use antivirus since I keep my internet connection limited to my apartment's WiFi. If repairing it is going to cost me more than $800, I'm not sure it's worth it.

First off, check if the issue might just be the power cable! They usually cost under $20 on Amazon. I've had a similar issue with my old Acer laptop where it started misbehaving, and it turned out to be a bad power cable. Replacing it did wonders for me! Just make sure to match the input and output specs when you buy a new one. And if this is a desktop and I've missed the mark, just ignore my advice, haha!
Since you can’t access the system anymore, try checking if it boots into the BIOS. Just look up how to do that by Googling it. If you can access BIOS, consider doing a factory reset—but make sure you back up important files first since that will wipe your data.
Random shut-offs can definitely indicate overheating issues. If the internal fan isn’t working properly, it might shut down to prevent damage. Also, if it can’t auto-repair, that might mean file corruption due to the overheating. An external fan could help keep things cool if that’s the culprit! Just make sure you have a backup of important files before making any bigger changes.

Thanks for the tip, but I already tried a new power cable and it didn’t help.
