How to Overcome Burnout and Find Motivation Again?

Hey everyone, I'm a software engineer with about 4.5 years of experience, working through various companies from government to startups and enterprises. Most of my work involves maintaining and migrating old codebases, which I'm pretty good at. However, I've recently come up with some side project ideas for a SaaS application, but now I'm struggling to get started. I feel like I'm lacking motivation and direction, which has made me doubt my skills and feel pretty burnt out. For almost a year, I've been working on autopilot, not studying, and lacking the enthusiasm I once had for tech jobs. I'm worried I'm losing my interest in the field altogether. Has anyone else faced a similar situation? How did you manage to pull yourself out of this slump before it gets worse?

It sounds like you’re really experiencing burnout. The only way out of it is to truly embrace the phase you're in right now. Recognize what's important to you – whether that's continuing in your tech career or shifting gears completely. It’s crucial to take breaks and step away from work. Spend time outdoors, develop new interests, and find inspiration in your surroundings. Once you take care of yourself, work will start to fall back into place.”,
