Advice Needed for Motherboard and PC Build!

I'm putting together a PC primarily for gaming, specifically for Star Citizen (which isn't the best optimized and depends more on CPU than GPU) and some sessions of Warzone. I'm also eyeing newer single-player titles. My current monitor setup is a UWQHD display with a resolution of 3440x1440, so I'll be gaming at that.

Here's what I've lined up so far on PC Part Picker:
- CPU: 9800X3D
- GPU: Asus TUF 5070Ti
- Cooler: Peerless Assassin Digital CPU Cooler
- RAM: 64GB 6000MHz CL30 GSkill Trident Neo Z5
- Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming X870
- Storage: 2x Gen4 Crucial T500 (500GB as the boot drive, 2TB for games)
- Power Supply: 1000W Seasonic Vertex GX1000 80+ Gold

I'm not super knowledgeable about motherboards, but I want at least two M.2 Gen 4 slots (three would be ideal), and the possibility for RAM upgrades with high speeds right off the bat. However, I've heard that the X870 might overheat the 9800X3D, and I'm a bit worried about that based on some things I've read online.

My case will have two 120mm exhaust fans at the back and six intake fans at the front, plus additional ones on the side and bottom. It's a Lian Li Chrome. Any recommendations on the motherboard or feedback on the entire setup would be hugely appreciated!

For ultrawide 2K gaming, consider upgrading to a 5080—it could provide a better native experience for what you're looking to achieve. So just choose a motherboard that matches your needs, watch a couple of reviews, and if you like what you see, go for it!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into that upgrade.

If you’ve got some extra cash, I’d recommend looking into the Gigabyte X870E Aorus Master; it's really solid. But if you're on a budget, just choose whichever option suits your wallet. Personally, I’ve had issues with Asus in the past, so I lean more towards Gigabyte. If you don’t mind spending a bit more, consider the 9950X3D too. If you're looking for budget-friendly options, the MSI Tomahawk is a decent pick as well!

I think one potential issue is that 500GB Crucial M.2 SSD for your C: drive. For just a bit more, you could upgrade to the Samsung 990 Pro 1TB, which offers much better performance. That 500GB SSD isn’t the best deal at $72.

As for the X870, any overheating issues are likely tied to the latest BIOS updates, which might throttle the CPU if not handled correctly. I wouldn’t stress about it too much, especially if you don't expect to have the updated BIOS right away. Check how many USB ports you get on the back—7 is a solid number. Also, ensure the board comes with enough fan headers, especially since you’re planning for all those fans!

You might want to check out this link: [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/) for builds similar to yours. But if ray tracing is important for you, you should look into other options! The case choice is crucial, so don’t rush that decision. Just keep in mind some basic BIOS updates you might need to tackle and double-check that power supply too! It seems a bit random.
