Why won’t my external hard drives work on my laptop?

I'm using an HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk1xxx, and I've tried connecting three external hard drives (I know at least one is a Seagate). Every time, I run into issues like corrupt disk messages or disk write errors when I try to download games from Steam or Ubisoft Connect. I checked with CrystalDiskInfo, and it says my drives are healthy. I've also disabled my firewall and antivirus, but nothing seems to help. I'm really frustrated and would appreciate any advice.

Have you checked if the drives you’re using are actually external ones or if they’re just regular hard drives in enclosures? Sometimes, drives in enclosures can cause issues depending on how they’re set up. Also, keep in mind that USB connections can be slow, so it's not the best for gaming. It might be better to install games directly on your laptop's internal drive if you can.

If you're having consistent issues with multiple drives, it's worth considering potential malware on your laptop. Running a thorough virus scan might reveal something that’s causing the conflicts, even if you think your antivirus is doing its job.
