I'm working with a Ryzen 9 5950X on an ASUS B550 Gaming motherboard, equipped with 2x16GB of RAM, 2 M.2 SSDs, 3 SATA SSDs, and a GeForce 3060 graphics card. I have a couple of old M.2 SSDs lying around and I'm considering using an M.2 adapter in one of the PCIe 3.0 slots. However, I'm unsure if this will impact the lanes available for my graphics card. Can anyone clarify how this setup might affect my GPU's performance?

On your motherboard, the graphics card slot should always get its full lanes. The only potential issue is if you plug something into the lower x4 slot, then you won't be able to use any of the three x1 slots. So, if you decide to go for two M.2 SSDs in adapters, make sure they are x1 adapters and leave the x4 slot empty. Also, be aware that using M.2 slot 3 will block access to SATA ports 5 and 6.

I'm not using those SATA ports anyway, so that's good to know. Thanks!
