Help! My PC Crashes with Blue Screen When Using Photoshop

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing some major problems with my work PC, especially when I use Photoshop, and sometimes Lightroom too. As a photographer and video editor, this has really hindered my workflow over the past few days. It seems like whenever I work with large files, my RAM usage peaks 100%, causing the system to get slower and slower before it crashes to a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The error I encounter is 'PFN_LIST_CORRUPT', which doesn't give me much to work with.

I've updated my Nvidia drivers and they report no issues, plus I tested two separate sets of RAM sticks, but I still end up with crashes. Given that it has been acting up since the last Windows update and I'm not very tech-savvy, I'm hoping someone here can lend a hand. Here are some specific details about my system: I've got an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 and G.Skill Ripjaws V RAM running at 2667MT/s instead of the advertised 3600MT/s. I also have Kingston Fury Beast RAM running at 3200MT/s. Any advice on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated!

Mixing different RAM kits might be causing your instability, especially under heavy loads. Make sure that you have matching sticks in the correct slots. Try to run some stability tests like MemTest86+ to check your RAM health. If it fails, then that's likely your issue. It could also help to update your motherboard BIOS and turn off any memory overclocking profiles in the BIOS. Also, consider increasing your page file size, as 512MB is pretty small for heavy tasks like Photoshop. Setting it to a minimum of 8192MB is a good start. You can adjust that in the performance settings of Windows.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve been careful not to mix the RAM—I've tested them separately. I’ll definitely look into the BIOS and page file settings. Appreciate your help!

It sounds like your PC is crashing due to running out of available memory when using Photoshop. The slowdown you’re experiencing is probably because it’s trying to use the page file, and when that runs out, it crashes. My advice would be to simplify your work to reduce memory usage. See if that helps prevent the crashes!
