Help! My ASUS Laptop Won’t Show Wi-Fi After Driver Changes

I'm having trouble getting my ASUS A15 TUF Gaming FA506 laptop to connect to Wi-Fi. I've already tried reinstalling the drivers, including a Realtek one that didn't work, and a MediaTek driver that did install, but still no Wi-Fi is showing up. I've rebooted my laptop multiple times, but troubleshooting hasn't helped either. Initially, I saw messages saying the Ethernet cable wasn't plugged in and now it's saying Windows networking services might not be running correctly, which is pretty confusing. I don't have my original router, just an extender that seems to work with other devices. I'm using Windows 11, and I'm really stuck here—any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked your Device Manager? If you see your Wi-Fi adapter listed there, that's a good sign. If you see a warning icon next to it, it could indicate a problem. In that case, try uninstalling the adapter completely from Device Manager and then reinstalling the driver from ASUS.

Yeah, I can see the MediaTek adapter there, but I’ll double-check for any warning signs.

It might be more of a Windows issue than a hardware problem. If your Wi-Fi isn’t showing at all, it’s worth checking the WLAN AutoConfig service to see if it’s disabled. You might also want to try a network reset or check your BIOS settings to ensure Wi-Fi is enabled.

It sounds like you might have a driver issue or a service that's not enabled properly. Make sure to install the exact driver for your laptop model directly from ASUS rather than generic ones. Also, check that the WLAN AutoConfig service is running in the services menu, as it’s crucial for managing Wi-Fi connections. Restarting that service can sometimes do the trick!

I've tried installing a bunch of drivers, but only one actually gets installed. What should I do?

I agree! If it’s not showing up, you might have to check the WLAN AutoConfig service in Windows to see if it's running. Sometimes it can be disabled, leading to these issues. If everything looks fine, you could consider doing a network reset.
