I'm currently using an RTX 3060 OC 12GB with a 1080p monitor, and while I don't have immediate plans to upgrade to 1440p, I might consider it in the future. Given the current prices for GPUs, I'm uncertain if it's a good time to upgrade or if I should wait for things to get better. If I decide to upgrade, which model in the 5000 series would offer the best performance without breaking the bank on inflated prices?

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, consider the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or the RX 9060 XT 16GB, which is usually cheaper and still offers good performance.
Right now, all NVIDIA GPUs are pretty overpriced. If you're looking for an upgrade, the RTX 5070 is probably your best bet. It offers solid performance for 1440p gaming. If you lean towards AMD, the RX 9070 could be a better deal for almost the same price; it has more VRAM and performs slightly better than the 5070.
Before upgrading, ask yourself if your current performance meets your expectations. If it does, hold off on the upgrade. If it doesn't, then it might be time to make that jump! That's really all there is to it.
I upgraded from a 3060 Ti to an RTX 5070 and it's been fantastic for 1440p gaming. It really is the best price-to-performance option right now from NVIDIA.

In Europe, the 5070 is priced nearly the same as the RX 9070 XT, which is a much stronger choice.
