Looking for Tips on Upgrading an Old PC

Hey everyone! I recently got an old PC, probably from around 2009 to 2011, and I'm on a shoestring budget looking into what I can do with it. The system runs fairly well with 8GB of RAM and a solid-state drive, but I'm concerned about its CPU. Currently, it's using an AMD A6-3620 APU with integrated Radeon HD Graphics, which seems pretty outdated. I can't even find this processor on PCPartPicker! The motherboard brand is Pegatron Corporation, model number 2ACD, and it's part of the Pavilion p6-series, specifically model p6-2133w. I'd love to know how I can find a compatible CPU or any other upgrades that would improve performance without breaking the bank. Thanks!

Have you thought about using your PC to make some money? You can utilize it for online gigs until you save up for something better. If you're looking to upgrade, anything modern like DDR4 or DDR5 is much better, but that might be out of reach now. Getting a low-end GPU might just help you out.

With that CPU, it's tough to find reasonable upgrades. I’d suggest looking for a used GPU on eBay for under $50. It'll give you a performance bump for light tasks. Also, consider adding another 8GB RAM stick if you can, to help with multitasking.

How tight is your budget? If it's under $200 that’s quite limited, but you might consider settling for something around $500 for better options. If this PC is your only option, just keep that in mind.

Honestly, with such an old computer, the best upgrade might be to switch to Linux. It's lightweight and can help breathe new life into your system without spending anything on hardware upgrades.
