Issues with Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 During Video Meetings

We've been deploying Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 laptops for our team, but since the start of this year, we're flooded with reports about a specific problem. Users are experiencing screen flickering during Google Meet sessions, and we've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps without success. At this point, we're just swapping out laptops. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Here's what we've tried so far: reinstalling Windows, toggling hardware acceleration, ensuring graphics drivers are updated, rolling back to older driver versions, and testing different browsers.

We dealt with similar flickering issues last year, but found that applying some Group Policy changes recommended in a post really helped. You might want to look into that. Here’s the link: [link].

We operate a lot of E14 units too, mostly AMD versions, and haven’t faced the same problems as you. That Reddit advice points out this flickering seems limited to the Intel models, which could explain our luck.

I had good luck with my X1 Extreme, but I know someone who went through several with motherboard problems. If yours has a manual reset switch (like a tiny pinhole on the bottom), give that a try—it’s solved some weird issues for me before.

I've noticed that laptops from around 2020 to 2022 have been pretty unreliable overall. It's like the perfect storm with reduced quality control, supply chain hiccups during COVID, and the release of Windows 11. Our usual laptop lifespan is about 5 to 7 years, but those from the early 2020s are only lasting around 3 years.

7 years for a business laptop? That's impressive!

I think these laptops are just reaching the end of their lifespan. If they’re over 5 years, it's time to replace them. Trust me, I've been stuck with my X1 Carbon Gen 6 for 8 years now!

I've had some trouble with this exact model too; it seems like the power regulator on the motherboard tends to fail. When it does, you can't charge them anymore at all.
