Accidentally Removed GPU While PC Was Running—Now There’s No Display, Help!

I made the mistake of unseating my GPU while my PC was still running outside the case. Now that everything is back in the case, the motherboard seems to be outputting a display via HDMI, but the HDMI slots on the GPU aren't working at all. The GPU lights and fans are functioning properly, though. I'm planning to update all my drivers and perform any Windows updates that might help. If anyone has dealt with a similar issue or has advice, I would really appreciate it!

Do you have a friend with a PC who can help you test the GPU? It's a tough lesson to learn, but it might help you figure out if the GPU itself is damaged or if it's something else.

Yeah, I'll definitely try that. Fingers crossed it's not a costly mistake!

You could also check if there's an option in the BIOS to disable the onboard GPU. Just make sure you're ready to reset the BIOS if it doesn't fix the issue. Sometimes, failing to switch the priority could cause problems. If possible, testing the setup with another motherboard might clarify if the GPU or motherboard is at fault.

You might want to try plugging the GPU into a different slot on the motherboard. Sometimes, the slot itself can get damaged, and you could be in luck if that's the case. But if there's only one GPU slot, that complicates things a bit.
