I'm currently going through my first year of college again because I've been struggling to keep up. Although I managed to pass a couple of semesters, I failed one class, which forced me to redo everything. Throughout the year, I made sure to communicate with my teachers and tutors about my confusion, but they just kept saying to practice more. I have tons of notes and practice problems, but without a solid understanding of the material, I often get things wrong. Now, as I'm repeating a computer architecture class, I'm facing the same challenges. I've told my instructors that I don't grasp the theory or lab work, but the advice remains the same: practice more. I can't afford a personal tutor and while I've looked at online resources, I'm struggling to learn without in-person instruction. I've been really stressed, culminating in anxiety and panic attacks, and I've started seeing a counselor. My mom suggests dropping the course, but I really enjoy it and want to understand what I'm doing. With exams approaching, I'm terrified of failing again and having to repeat the class, which is necessary to progress to the second year. I feel lost and I'm unsure if I'm cut out for this major. Any tips would be appreciated!

You're definitely not dumb! It sounds like you just need a different approach to studying. Have you considered looking for study groups at school? Sometimes, explaining things to peers or hearing them explain it differently can make a world of difference. Plus, you're all in the same boat, so it might help with the stress too.

Absolutely! Group studies can be super helpful. Also, don't hesitate to ask your professors if they offer extra help sessions or office hours – they're there to help you succeed!
