Why Can’t My Laptop Find My New 5G WiFi?

I recently upgraded to a 5G router, but my older Acer Aspire E 17 can't seem to find the new WiFi network. It connects to other networks just fine, and my other devices have no problems with the new router. I've done some basic troubleshooting and even uninstalled the WiFi driver, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

You could try setting the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands to different SSIDs. For some older laptops, changing the encryption type on the router helped me connect. It might do the trick for you too!

Make sure that the 2.4GHz band is enabled on your router. Some older laptops, like yours, may only support 2.4GHz and not 5GHz. Also, remember there's a difference between 5G (cellular) and 5GHz (WiFi frequency)!
