I'm looking to build a new desktop setup with the Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 motherboard. Initially, I plan to pair it with a Ryzen 5 8400F, but I'm thinking about upgrading to a stronger CPU later on. My concern is whether this motherboard can handle more powerful processors like the Ryzen 7 9700X or the 7800X3D. I've heard that high-quality B650 motherboards can support upgrades to higher performance CPUs, but I want to confirm if that's true.

I’m worried though, since in Turkey, we don’t have many major retailers and there’s often a markup on products. What if the BIOS version doesn’t match the CPU? Can’t I at least boot and access the BIOS? And isn’t the 7800X3D considerably more powerful than the 8400F?
Yes, the Gigabyte B650 can definitely handle high-performance CPUs like the 7950X, which is currently the most power-hungry AM5 CPU. This means it’ll support Ryzen 9000 and X3D CPUs as well, provided the BIOS version is compatible. If you’re buying from a trusted vendor, it should come with a recent BIOS. And since it can manage a 8400F, it should have no problem with the 7800X3D, as the latter was released after the former.
It’s likely to be futureproof until the possible launch of AM6 in 2028. Keep in mind that nothing is truly futureproof, except maybe the cooling fans!
