Should I Upgrade from AM4 to AM5 with My Current Setup?

I'm currently using an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X on an AM4 platform with a Gigabyte AORUS Radeon RX 9070XT GPU that I got last July. I've found a 9600X processor and an AM5 motherboard for decent prices, along with RAM available through Facebook Marketplace. I primarily game, playing titles like Forza Horizon 6, Dying Light: The Beast, Valorant, Fortnite, Honkai Star Rail, and Geometry Dash. Considering my current specs and the costs involved, is it really worth upgrading to AM5? Or would I be better off sticking with my AM4 setup? I'm also open to any other suggestions you might have!

In my opinion, it's all about personal preference. If you're eager to upgrade, go for it, but keep an eye on those DDR5 RAM prices—they're a bit outrageous right now. If your PC runs well for what you need, you might want to wait it out a bit longer.

I wouldn’t say the upgrade is worth it either. I have both a Ryzen 7800X3D and a 5900X, and honestly, the performance feels almost identical with an RTX 5080. Unless you’re facing performance issues now, it’s not really necessary.

Honestly, sticking with your current setup is the best move. Upgrading means more costs beyond just the CPU—it’s also a new motherboard and RAM, and with prices being what they are, it's not worth it for minimal gains. You won’t miss out on much in games for now, trust me.

Honestly, upgrading isn’t necessary. The 5800X is still a beast for gaming, especially at 1440p and 4K. You might want to consider overclocking it instead; just boost the PBO and tweak the memory timings slightly. No need to spend a ton on an AM5 setup unless cash isn't an issue for you.

I'll definitely try overclocking, thanks for the tip!

The 5800X works fine with a 9070 XT, especially at higher resolutions. The jump to AM5 isn't a significant performance boost unless you're looking at high-end chips like the 7800X3D. The costs associated make it hard to justify the upgrade right now.

Is there a specific reason why the higher resolutions favor it? Just curious!
