I have an ASUS Vivobook 17 that I've been using since September 2024. Lately, I've noticed tiny metal beads falling out of it, and I can't afford to get professional repairs. I'm not sure if any of my friends have the skills to help me fix this either.

Could you share a picture of those metal beads? Sometimes it’s easier to diagnose issues visually.

Those metal beads you're seeing might be the ball bearings from your laptop's fan. If your fan is making unusual noises, then it’s definitely time for a new one. You can check out the repair guides on iFixit to see if you can replace it yourself. Just search for your laptop model and order a replacement fan if you feel up to it!

Yeah, I found some info about ball bearings online too. They also suggested a potential hinge failure, but if your fan isn't noisy and your hinge is fine, it might just be that. I totally get the budget situation; it’s tough!
