I'm looking for some command-line tools to rip DVDs. I'm familiar with CD paranoia for CDs, but I need recommendations for DVDs. Ideally, I want something that can also fetch metadata. I came across projects like lsdvd, but I'm not sure how effective they are. What do you suggest?

MakeMKV is really good too, although it's not a CLI tool. If you need a command-line option, give vobcopy a shot. It extracts DVD tracks to MPEG2 files without re-encoding, plus it has various options.
HandBrake is a solid choice! It’s been around forever and works well for ripping and converting.
You should check out MakeMKV followed by HandBrake. MakeMKV is great for ripping DVDs, and HandBrake can help you convert them to other formats if needed.
If you're using HandBrake, make sure to use the lib decoder from VLC. That's a good combo for ripping DVDs!
