I'm set to graduate next year with a degree in Computer Science. I've worked on a few web projects, but they're usable rather than fully polished. I tend to jump to new project ideas instead of enhancing or applying what I've learned. I'd love some advice on how to get ready for entering the workforce. Do you think it's realistic for me to secure a junior role this summer?

Definitely polish your current projects and aim to have finished works to show potential employers. Networking is key, don't wait until after graduation to start meeting people in the industry! And yes, you can absolutely apply for junior roles this summer if your schedule allows it. Worst case, you'll gain interview experience!

While I've seen successful web developers, if computer science fundamentals are lacking, it might limit your job prospects. It's great you've done web dev, but revisiting core concepts could unlock more opportunities for you, especially with so many in the web dev space.

Just a heads up, what you learn in class might not always match real-world situations. Don't hesitate to ask for help from colleagues in the field. Listen to their advice; it can be invaluable!

Congrats on your upcoming graduation! My biggest tip is to focus on refining the projects you’ve already started. Having a few well-finished projects can really impress future employers more than several half-done ones. Get those projects online so you can showcase them! Also, start networking now – it's super important. As for applying for junior roles, I’d say go for it. You can gain valuable experience from interviews, even if you don’t get the job right away.

It's awesome to want to start new projects! This shows that you’re eager to learn and grow. Just make sure you're setting reasonable goals for each one so you don’t get overwhelmed. Reflect on your experiences to improve your future projects. If you ever feel like you can't finish something, think about what barriers are holding you back and adjust your approach. Good luck!
