I've noticed that my messages to one specific friend are stuck as green SMS instead of blue iMessages. We used to have blue messages, but after a bad storm hit a couple of days ago, my messages started sending as SMS. Other friends' messages returned to blue after the storm, but mine are still green. To test, I had my cousin use her phone to text my friend, and her message was blue. I heard that a recent Apple update lets messages show as blue even if you're blocked, but I'm not sure what to make of this situation.

You might want to try toggling iMessage off and then back on in your settings. Sometimes a simple reset can fix these weird issues.
Just a quick reminder: blue messages mean you're using Apple's iMessage service, while green means it's sent as regular SMS. If both you and your friend are using iMessage, the messages should come through blue. If one of you isn’t signed into iMessage or you're using a different Apple ID, it will revert to SMS.
If you’re blocked, messages typically show blue for a short time, then turn green again. I’ve tested this quite a bit, and it always holds up. But it’s weird that your messages are still green after all this time.
That’s interesting! I thought that might be the case, but I have friends I know have blocked me and my messages still show up blue, so my phone might be acting up.

That makes sense, but my friend is getting messages from others as blue, which is what confuses me. Just a glitch, maybe?
