Is DDR5 7800 MHz Sufficient for Nova Lake and the Z9/B9 Chipsets?

I'm looking to buy new RAM, and even though prices aren't ideal, I want to invest in something that will last a while. I'm planning to upgrade to Intel's Nova Lake later this year, which is expected to natively support 8000 MHz RAM, but I'm considering a 7800 MHz kit instead. I've read that 8000 MHz could be the 'sweet spot' for performance. I'm trying to figure out if choosing 7800 MHz will lead to any issues like instability or performance drops, or if it's generally accepted to be a solid choice for these upcoming chipsets. Any insights would help!

It's hard to say for certain since the new Nova Lake chips aren't out yet, so the exact sweet spot for memory speeds is still up in the air. All we have right now are guesses and previous data, but 8000 MHz could very well end up being the target speed. However, if you find a 7800 MHz kit that’s reliable, it’s likely still a good choice, especially if you're concerned about budget.

I get what you're saying! The specs suggest that the Nova Lake will shine with 8000 MHz, but who knows? Maybe 7800 MHz will get the job done just fine.
