I'm having a tough time finding a reliable script to stop users from creating files and shortcuts on their desktops. I've tried using Group Policy Objects (GPO) for this, but no luck yet. Does anyone have a method or script that actually works? Thanks in advance!

If you’re dealing with a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), maybe the customer just needs to look into FSLogix. It can help manage desktop settings and even back up files if configured right. Trying to block desktop rights could lead to more headaches. Just a thought!
It sounds like you might want to redirect the desktop folder to the users' home folders using a GPO setting. This way, files won't be saved on their desktops anymore.
Have you considered mandatory profiles? That might work, depending on your setup. Just curious, what’s the actual reason behind restricting desktop changes?
Is this VDI solution cloud-based or on-premise? The motivation behind those restrictions could help clarify things. Are they just trying to manage file storage or control usage?

The customer has a VDI for call center staff and specifically wants to prevent saving files or creating shortcuts on the desktop.
