Which Graphics Card Should I Choose: RX 6600 or RTX 3060?

I'm trying to decide between the RX 6600 with 8GB and the RTX 3060 that supposedly has 12GB. I'm on a budget due to the high second-hand market prices in my area, and brand new components are also pretty pricey. I'll be using these cards with a Ryzen 5 5600, and while it's tempting to go for something higher-end, it's not feasible financially right now.

The RTX 3060 is about $100 more than the RX 6600 (both are used). Does the extra VRAM in the 3060 really make that much of a difference? Just to give a bit of context, I'll mainly be using the PC for school work and gaming, like League of Legends and more modern titles like Resident Evil.

Have you thought about looking into the Arc B580? I saw some used ones going for around $220, which might be a solid upgrade over the 3060 at a similar price point.

Actually, there isn't a 12GB version of the RTX 3060 Ti—just a regular 3060. If you’re choosing between the 6600 and the 3060, I'd personally lean towards the 3060. It generally offers better performance for gaming, especially with more demanding titles.

You don’t necessarily need the extra VRAM, but it does give you more flexibility for future games. At 1080p with high settings, the 12GB can help avoid stuttering in modern games, but if you’re okay playing on medium settings, the 8GB should handle things just fine.

What about considering the RX 6700 XT? It's just a bit more expensive but is a great option and might really elevate your gaming experience. If you can find it used for about $100 more than the RX 6600, it could be worth it!

I appreciate the suggestion! I found one in the used market that’s only $100 more than the RX 6600, so I'll definitely consider that.
