Considering a Switch from Dell to Lenovo: Thoughts and Experiences?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about changing laptop brands after using Dell for the past four years. Almost all of our laptops are Dells, with just a few HPs left, but lately we've been seeing a concerning number of dead on arrival (DOA) laptops from Dell. While I do appreciate their repair service, it has become a bit excessive. We also have some laptops working in tough environments and they've been taking a beating.

I'm curious if anyone has experience with Lenovo laptops? I used to really like them back when they were under IBM, but that feels like ages ago. How do they hold up in terms of durability, build quality, and support?

Are there any other brands you'd recommend, or are they all heading downhill? Is it just a matter of getting the longest warranty?

Thanks for your insights!

I think the response to your question really depends on the specific Dell models you're using. Different models have different reliability histories. For example, the Latitude series is generally solid, but if you're using something else, results can vary greatly! Tough environments will definitely push any brand to its limits.

Have you had specific issues with your current Dell models? That might help in understanding how they compare to Lenovos.

Right now, we're using the Dell 14 and 16 Pro, and before that, Latitude 3440 and 5450. We’ve been trying to stick with i7 and 32 GB of RAM, but honestly, I’m just not impressed with their performance or longevity lately. Dell support has been great, though.
