I'm contemplating whether to upgrade my current AM4 CPU or to take the plunge and move to an AM5 setup. My reasons for hesitating include the recent spike in RAM and storage prices, which makes staying with my current setup seem appealing. Almost three years ago, I built a machine with a Ryzen 5600, Sapphire Pulse RX 6700XT, 32GB DDR4 3666MHz RAM, and an Asus Prime B450 A-II motherboard. While I've been happy with my GPU, I have noticed some games becoming more CPU-bound lately. I'm considering the 5800X3D, as it's still quite popular and performs well, but I'm wary of its cost in the UK, hovering over £330. Should I invest in a new CPU like the 5800X3D or save for an AM5 upgrade?

Upgrading to the 5800X3D might not be worth it. The performance boost just isn't significant enough compared to the cost. At 1440p, your CPU likely isn’t the main issue. I’d hold off unless you're really feeling that your current setup is lacking.
It's a tough decision! If you're still enjoying your games, saving up for AM5 might be the smarter move. Pricing is unpredictable right now. You’re in the UK, so maybe consider bundles if you have a local tech store. I wouldn't rush into a CPU upgrade; better to hold out for AM5 in my opinion.

Totally, I agree. I think I'm going to wait it out.
