Hey everyone, I've been experiencing some issues lately with the Teams Add-In for Outlook, especially after the recent Teams update from March 20. It seems that the Add-In is causing Outlook to crash and get disabled for several users across different organizations. I'll share what I've discovered so far about the problem:
There appears to be an unhandled exception occurring during the initialization of the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in. The crash consistently happens right after the add-in loads.
I also came up with some possible fixes like disabling the add-in in safe mode or ensuring both Teams and Microsoft Office are fully updated and possibly repairing the Visual C++ Redistributable. I'd love to hear if anyone else is facing this issue and if you've found any solutions!

Some say the best fix is to switch to the New Outlook, since they're planning to phase out the classic version soon. Might as well transition now!
No official timeline yet, but I've seen chatter about it.
Yeah, crashes and issues with add-ins are just something we have to live with when using Outlook. It's been a problem for ages, honestly, just like how PST files get corrupted out of nowhere!
If you want to disable the add-in, check if resiliency is set up. You can disable it via Group Policy or the registry. Just a little tip!
Honestly, this is typical Microsoft behavior during updates! We've seen other tools having similar issues with redistributables. Repairs can be a hassle since you need admin rights. It's frustrating for sure, but it looks like that repair could be the way to go.
I encountered the same crashing issue. Repairing the Visual C++ Redistributables worked for a few users yesterday, so it might be a good fix to try out!
Thanks for confirming that! I'll definitely give it a shot.

Are they really forcing everyone to switch? I haven't heard a timeline for that.
