Help! Stuck in Automatic Repair Loop After Terminal Commands in Safe Mode

I'm in a bit of a bind here. I've been trying for hours to get rid of leftover files from my Vipre antivirus, and I've been following some tips to bypass file permission issues. This involved repeatedly booting into safe mode and entering commands into my terminal. The first three commands worked fine, but when I ran the delete command, I stepped away for a few minutes. When I returned, I noticed none of my desktop shortcuts were there anymore. Now, whenever I try to boot back into Windows, I'm stuck in this automatic repair loop. I attempted a system restore, but I keep getting an error and the computer has been stuck diagnosing the problem for 30 minutes. I have only one restore point, and every time I try it, I get a message saying it didn't complete successfully. Am I doomed to reset my computer, or is there a chance I can get things back to normal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! By the way, I'm using an Ibuypower Element Gaming PC.

You might want to try opening msconfig if you're able to access it, and select "boot: normal mode". Also, check if secure boot is enabled; you need to turn that off to boot normally. If you're stuck on the automatic repair screen, this might be tricky, though.

A good solution could be to create a Windows installation media on a USB using another device. Boot from that USB and select 'repair your computer'. It might help you get out of the repair loop. Just follow this guide for more info: [Windows Installation Media](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-installation-media-for-windows-99a58364-8c02-206f-aa6f-40c3b507420d).

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t have easy access to a USB right now, but I’m going to look into getting one. If it comes down to a factory reset, do you know if my files will still be there?
