I left my Lenovo ThinkBook running automated tests overnight, but when I woke up, my wife had turned off the router. Now, after logging in, I'm seeing some serious issues: there's no internet icon, I can't access my keyboard settings, and I can't adjust the screen brightness or volume. I've never encountered anything like this in my 35 years of computer use. I don't have a restore point to go back to, so I'm really stuck here. Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I do next?

It sounds like your Wi-Fi icon disappearing is a common issue. A lot of times, just connecting your laptop to the internet with an Ethernet cable and running a Windows Update can solve it. I had a similar case where the Wi-Fi chip was disabled in Device Manager, so definitely check that too.
Don’t blame your wife for this one! It might be worth trying an external keyboard and mouse if you have them. Computers can get really weird sometimes. Best of luck getting everything sorted!
