I'm looking at upgrading my aging PC to keep up with newer games. Right now, I've got a 6700K CPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a GTX 1070 GPU. It struggles with the latest games, and I'm not super concerned about having everything on max settings, but I'm running into issues with DLSS not being available on my old card. I'd like to know if spending $400-500 on an RTX 4060 would actually make a noticeable difference in performance, or will my CPU hold it back too much? The 4060 stands out for me due to its price and availability in my area.

Just to throw in some comparisons, have you looked at the prices for other GPUs? Like, the 5060 Ti or even the 7700 XT? They are an extra $150 or so, but considering performance, it might be worth it depending on what games you play. Just keep in mind price differences based on your location.
It really depends on your setup. There might be some bottlenecking with the 6700K, but how noticeable it'll be can vary based on what games you're playing and what settings you use. If you're only gaming at 1080p, you might not see a huge difference in some titles without DLSS support.
Also, keep in mind that graphics-intensive games, like Cyberpunk, can be demanding on your CPU, so it's worth considering how much you're willing to invest for the performance boost you seek.
You should also check out alternative GPUs! I noticed that you can get a 6900 XT for around $400-500 too. I have that setup with the same CPU and 32GB of RAM, and it runs games like RDR2 at pretty solid framerates. However, I get that availability might be an issue in your area.
Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I can't find the 6900 XT available where I live, which is making it tough to choose the right upgrade.
Exactly! For 1080p, you could see some improvement, but if there are heavy CPU limitations in the games, you might not get the full potential out of the RTX 4060.
