What to do if my GPU fails shortly after purchase?

I recently bought a gaming PC from Facebook Marketplace, and everything was working fine during the first weekend. However, after a few days of not using the PC due to my long work hours, I turned it on and couldn't get any display on my monitor. I'm pretty new to PCs, so I tried troubleshooting by replacing the RAM, removing the battery, and reseating the GPU, but nothing worked. I swapped in a GPU from my old PC and it worked immediately. I'm confused about why this happened after just a couple of days without issues. I've reached out to the seller for a replacement or refund, but he insists it was functioning perfectly when I bought it. What are my options here? Am I stuck buying a new GPU?

It sounds like you might have been scammed. The GPU could have been functioning well for a short period before failing, which seems like something the previous owner might have done to sell it. It's worth investigating further to see if there’s evidence of the GPU being faulty.

If you take the GPU to a local PC shop, they may be able to diagnose it and determine if the issue was caused by neglect or if it was indeed failing beforehand. In some places, you can build a case against the seller if you collect enough evidence.
